REALTOR® back in the saddle for cancer fundraising cycling challenge

GVR Realtor Dave Peerless, and his trusty bicycle, is hitting the road again for a cancer research fundraiser with Ride2Survive’s Ride On 2025, in Langley this Saturday.
Dave is no stranger to such causes. For almost 17 years he has ridden in and helped organise teams from Dexter Realty to participate in bicycling fundraisers.
He began with the two-day Ride to Conquer Cancer, which originally ran from Vancouver to Seattle, and in later years, to Hope. Over the past 12 years, he and his team raised more than $500,000 for cancer research.
Wanting a greater challenge, Dave joined the Ride2Survive team in 2017 and continued raising funds for cancer research. The Kelowna to Vancouver course was his biggest challenge yet: 400 km long and a 3 km climb completed in one day. He did this for four years.
Little did Dave know that after all these years of fundraising, he too would join the millions of Canadians who benefited from cancer research.
“I have annual check-ups and within the space of a year, I’d developed Stage 3 colon cancer,” Dave said. “Early detection is vital for surviving cancer.”
With a positive prognosis, Dave is ready to continue his good works with Ride On 2025.
“My fundraising philosophy is simple - 100 per cent of the money raised goes directly to cancer research,” said Dave. “Donations aren’t to be used to pay for the event or administration.”
The organizers of Ride On 2025 share the same opinion – all donations will be used only for research.
Dave partners with the Canadian Cancer Society to identify specific research for funding.
