The Greater Vancouver REALTOR® Community Relief Fund helps Canadians facing housing instability after a disaster or other unexpected hardship. The fund is built to support people whose shelter needs have been affected by events such as floods, wildfires, fires, and other emergencies. It’s part of our long-standing commitment to helping communities when housing security is at risk.

Who can apply

You may be eligible to apply if you are:

  • an individual or family facing housing instability because of a disaster, tragedy, or other unexpected hardship
  • part of an affected community seeking support through a registered charity that is actively helping people in that area

Applications from across Canada may be considered. Priority may be given to people in Greater Vancouver, as well as those with limited access to other support.

How applications are reviewed

Applications are reviewed by the Community Relief Fund Selection Committee, made up of GVR staff and member volunteers. The committee reviews requests and makes funding recommendations based on need, impact, and how the support could help with recovery and housing stability. The process is designed to be fair, accountable, and transparent.

When reviewing an application, the committee may consider:

  • the nature of the hardship and its impact on your housing situation
  • your level of financial need and access to other support
  • whether there are health, family, or caregiving factors that increase vulnerability
  • whether you are in temporary shelter or at immediate risk of homelessness
  • the level of personal or property loss involved
  • how the funding could support short-term relief and longer-term recovery

Documentation or third-party verification may be required.

Before you apply

Please be ready to share details about your situation and, where possible, supporting documents such as:

  • proof of identity
  • proof of residence
  • documents or verification that confirm the displacement event or hardship
  • information that shows financial need or reduced access to income and support

Providing complete information will help us review your application as quickly as possible.

Submitting an application does not guarantee funding. Each request is reviewed on its own circumstances, available funds, and the needs of other applicants at the time. Our goal is to direct support where it can make the greatest difference.
